" PCV hose check valve failure--anyone else had this occur?
Earlier this year, my '04 9-5 had the check valve in the PCV system--between the rubber hose coming from the throttle body and the hard plastic line running down below the intake manifold into the breather box--fail. The nipple inserted into the hard plastic line broke off at the check valve. This caused a big vac leak, throwing a MIL, causing the throttle body to go into limp mode, and resulting in a no-start condition until I jury-rigged a fix.
Tonight my dad calls to ask where the OBD port is on his '04 9-5. I ask what's up, and he says, "the car turns over but won't start unless I floor the pedal, won't hold an idle, CEL's on". Same symptoms as I had, so I say it sounds like you have a vac leak...told him what had happened to my car, and sure enough the same check valve has broken in the same spot.
Anyone else experienced this?
If not, worth checking to see if its fatiguing/cracked because the vac leak will cause a similar no-start."
