To all those who feel their 2.0 clutch would do with an upgrade due to a bit uprated engine.
Right, after frying 2 friction plates I decided to upgrate to 2.3 clutch. If you want to follow suit bear in mind:
-the bigger clutch (240mm vs. 228mm dia.) requires redrilling 2.0 flywheel to accomodate wider offset of pressure plate mounting screws
-the bigger clutch - its pressure plate is higher thus requires thinner flywheel (ca 2.50mm). Otherwise it will scratch the box bell hausing
- the bigger clutch - its friction plate has a bigger hub thus requires appropriately wider and deeper flywheel central cavity.
If I had known these before I would not have had to disassembly a quarter of my car twice, would not have bothered a metal machining workshop (at which I hopefully work) 3 times and would have bought a suitable and orginal 2.3 turbo flywheel. But I didn`t.
So far the clutch works fine (only thanks to very accurate engineers and digital machines that did the job where centering and balancing is vital)
