Orio AB – Reporting of increased authorisation request
Some of you may have seen internet reports over the weekend of a story in Sweden, which we wanted to take the opportunity to correct and make clear.
As you know Orio AB is a Swedish state-owned company, and as such it operates under various limitations applied by the Swedish Parliament.
In order to execute the Orio business plan and create additional value from company assets in the future, the state owners have to ask parliament for “extended authorisation” approval.
This is being done under the Spring Budget Amendment 2021.
“In order to expand the state's alternative course of action and thus the state's opportunities to obtain as much value as possible for the business, the government has sought a broader mandate in Spring Budget Amendment 2021. In practice, this increases the opportunities for the board and, in the long run, the state to be able to obtain as high a value as possible for the business”, says Charlotte Hansson, Chairman of the Board of Orio AB.
Unfortunately, some of the wording within the amendment cited one possible result from “extended authorisation” might be liquidation. With little attention paid to principal reasons behind the protocol in requesting parliamentary approval, a few journalists have wildly misreported the purpose, which has subsequently spread via social media.
The Swedish Department of Commerce and the Swedish Government are fully supportive and committed to Orio AB’s business plan and future opportunities, which we expect parliament to ratify soon.
This much-needed new operating flexibility will enable Orio AB to forge ahead with its development plan across the entire group.
We would like to take this opportunity to reassure all our customers and Saab owners that we remain secure, well-funded and committed to the Saab Original spare parts business.
Just as we have operated over the last 9 years – it’s business as usual!
