Hi everyone,

 

does any one know the thread size needed to fit a VDO oil pressure sensor..

so the oil pressure gauge works on the console(VDO aux gauges in centre console)to the oil pressure housing............

the VDO sensor has 2 terminals fitted to it 1 for the dash warning light 1 for the aux oil pressure gauge..

 

I have a 1987 T8..

 

I brought a adaptor from Saab to fit the VDO oil pressure to the housing for a Saab model year 1981 to 1986...

but they must have changed the thread size because the adaptor leaks like a sieve with this adaptor fitted even with the sealing gasket in place..

On my 1988 900 Turbo 16V it is a M14x1,5mm-thread. You can check it with the engine-oil-drain-plug, this one is M14x1,5mm, too.

thats the size I have got from Saab its M14x1.5mm to 1/8"NCT conical thread........

I think I need M14X1.5mm to 1/8" NCT Cylindrical thread.......

The VDO number is 360.081/030/028 K

I had a look at my repair-manual. There are two sizes for the oil-pressure-switch:

 

M14x1,5 mm

 

or

 

1/4" - 18 NPTF

 

So the last one must be the one you need.

as already said M14x1.5mm you can still buy from Saab but its only for 1981 to 1986 model year C900 cars....

I will buy this other one & try :thumbsup:
